DISCUSS YOUR VESSEL
01Who is FLEXIPAX designed for?

FLEXIPAX provides mobile cabin keys for cruise and ferry operators. Marine operations, IT teams and integration partners can discuss connecting passenger access with compatible cabin locks and reservation systems.

02Can we use our existing cabin locks?

Compatibility needs to be reviewed with your lock provider. Start with the lock model, Bluetooth Low Energy capability and door-lock software version; the team can then discuss the integration requirements for your vessel.

03Can mobile keys connect to our passenger app or booking system?

FLEXIPAX offers API and SDK integration options for reservation systems and passenger applications. The right approach depends on your current systems and how you want to deliver keys to passengers.

04Does a mobile cabin key work without internet at sea?

Once downloaded, a mobile key remains available until its checkout date and time. Downloading or updating a key, including after a cabin change, requires a data connection.

05What happens if a passenger has no smartphone or a flat battery?

Physical keycards can remain available alongside mobile keys. A passenger without a usable phone can ask reception for a physical keycard.

06What should we prepare for a marine mobile-key demo?

Bring your vessel or fleet context, cabin-lock provider and model, reservation-system details, and passenger-app requirements. These help the team discuss compatibility and the most appropriate integration approach.

PASSENGER ACCESS QUESTIONS

FAQs

Can multiple family members or passengers use cruise Digital Keys for the same cabin?

Yes, with FLEXIPAX it is possible to have multiple Marine Mobile Keys working simultaneously for the same cabin. Our keyless smart access system for cruise ships and ferries allows Digital Keys and physical key cards to work at the same time. For example, if there are two people in one cabin, both could have a cruise Mobile Key and two plastic key cards all functioning together. FLEXIPAX Digital Key management for marine vessels places no limitation on the quantity of Mobile Keys available for cabins.

Is it possible to change cabins while sailing on ocean cruises or Ro-Pax ferries?

Yes, this is possible with FLEXIPAX keyless access for cruise and ferry vessels. Your ferry Digital Key or cruise Mobile Key can be updated to provide access to your new cabin. Once you open the SuperFast Mobile Keys app, the new cabin number will update and the new Digital Key will download automatically.
If there is no data connection while sailing, updates will not be possible. In this case, you can visit the reception desk where the team can create a physical key card with your new cabin number. Please note that Marine Mobile Key updates require an active data connection - the ASSA ABLOY door lock software, FLEXIPAX, and your mobile phone all need to be online. The advantage of our Digital Key management marine system is that once you've downloaded your Mobile Key to your phone, it remains active until your checkout date and time. This means for keyless smart access during your journey, even in areas with no data connection, your Mobile Key will continue to open your cabin until your scheduled departure.

Can I download my cruise Mobile Key or ferry Digital Key after departure?

Yes, of course. You can download your marine Digital Key at any time during your journey on ocean cruises, river cruises, or Ro-Pax ferries as long as there is an active data connection for the digital check-in cruise and marine industry system.

Can I forward my cruise Digital Key or ferry Mobile Key to another passenger?

No. Marine Mobile Keys are only valid once on one device. If you want an additional Digital Key for your iPad, secondary phone, or for another family member aboard luxury yachts or cruise ships, you can request additional Mobile Keys for marine vessels, but these will be different unique keys. The Digital Key downloaded to your phone cannot be shared with others - it's a one-time Mobile Key code for one device only, ensuring security with our keyless smart access system.

What if my phone runs out of battery while using keyless access for cruise and ferries?

This happens less frequently than you might expect, as most guests stay connected to social media and communication platforms like WhatsApp throughout their journey on ocean cruises and ferries. However, if your phone battery dies while using Marine Mobile Keys, you can simply visit the reception desk and request a physical key card as a backup for your Digital Key management marine system.

What if I don't have a smartphone for digital check-in cruise and marine industry services?

No problem. The keyless smart access system on our cruise ships, river cruises, and Ro-Pax vessels accommodates all guests. You can visit the reception desk and receive a traditional key card, just as you would in a hotel today. You can use a plastic or wooden key card that will work for your entire stay on our marine vessels.
